About

Just so we're all clear, I do have reasoning behind both the URL for my blog & the title.

As for the URL, the main point of my creating this blog is for an English class I'm currently in. We got to decide which assignments/projects to do throughout the semester, and one of my commitments was to make a blog where I would write about literature.
(I'm an English Education major, just so you know. And a Chinese Education minor.)
Hence, the passion is in the words idea.
I thought it seemed fitting.
As for the title, well one, it's a great U2 song. And I LOVE music.
Two, for the majority of my life I've always lived in big cities, whether that be St. Louis or Shanghai. There's just something I find so beautiful and satisfying about big cities and their lights. They're so pretty! So that's where I got the title from.

This to the right here is 上海 (Shanghai, China) where I lived for all four years of high school. I don't think anyone can argue with me and say that it's not gorgeous. 'The City of Blinding Lights' makes a little bit more sense now I hope.
Side note: I'm going to visit in a little over a month! I'm beyond excited.

Well, now that you know a LITTLE about me, I'll share some more tidbits.

I've lived a bunch of different places throughout my life. Here's the order:
1. St. Louis, MO
2. Rogers, AR
3. Shanghai, China
4. Idaho Falls, ID
5. Rexburg, ID
6. Taiwan (a whole bunch of cities within that amazing country)
7.Austin, TX
8. Rexburg, ID

I'm currently at number 8, good ol' Rexburg, Idaho. It's a great place, despite the size. It's by far the smallest place I've ever lived, yet I love it here. I'm currently going to college here, studying English and Chinese Education.
I have amazing roommates and friends. I've also lucked out with jobs and opportunities. My sister (my best friend) also lives only 30 minutes away, so that's a big plus.
I definitely believe that the people make the place, and the people here are amazing (for the most part). I also believe that you get what you put in. So if you have a good attitude and you try to love it, I'm pretty sure the love will come.

My family is amazing, and they're way too good for me. Just see below:

I mean, who wouldn't love these guys?

As for what I love to do - what I'm passionate about - there is SO much.

For one, music. I love music, so much. I'm currently on a Deep Purple kick, smoke on the water anyone? Last week it was a big Earth, Wind and Fire mood. I love it all. At least, all the good stuff :) I play piano and viola. I like singing, although I don't spread that around. I pretend to know how to play ukulele, and I'm going to learn to play guitar. I love finding new music; just good, random music on spotify or youtube. But I also love the classics, say Led Zeppelin. The music that never gets old.

Two, obviously is literature. Writing, reading, all of it. As far as I can remember I've always loved English. Way more than things like, say, Math, or Science. There's just something about words, and putting them together in such a way that it amazing to me. I just finished the Book Thief, and OH MY GOSH. Why have I not read that before? The main posts you'll see here will be about literature, at least at the start.

Three, art. Which includes, painting, drawing, designing, and sewing. Sewing and pattern making/fashion design has been the big one lately. I'm in a pattern making class and we get to design our own clothes, and I am falling in love with it way too fast.

Four, Traveling. ALL over the world. I love it. I just love going on adventures and meeting new people.

Five, Chinese. Obviously, it's my minor. It wasn't till I went on a mission to Taiwan that I really grew to LOVE the language, but oh man do I love it now or what? It's so fascinating, and there's so much to learn. I just find it so, cool. For lack of a better word.

There's a ton of other stuff I could go into, like swimming. I love swimming, and I really just love water in general. I also love soccer. And skiing. SNOW. I love snow. Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons. I love movies, especially the Fast & the Furious movies. And Hot Rod. (But really, who doesn't love Hot Rod?)
I won't go into all of that now. Although one day I probably will.

Well, now that you all know a little bit about me, I guess it's time for me to go make an actual post about something I'm reading lately.
I'm going to go work on that.
